Who Is Galileo Galilei?
Galileo Galilei was born on February 15, 1564 in Pisa, Italy. Galileo studied astronomy, mathematics, physics, and was also a philosopher. Throughout his scientific career, Galileo inquired about various scientific theories, allowing him to provide strong evidence for these theories. This earned him him the title of "The Father of Modern Science”. In his early years, Galileo attended the University of Pisa as well as the University of Padua.
Galileo was well known for many achievements during his lifetime, including achievements which contributed to modern science such as constructing the first advanced astronomical telescope. Galileo's biggest achievement in life was providing great evidence for the Copernicus theory of the Universe. Even though Galileo was forced to recant this evidence due to the Church’s strong disapproval of the theory, Galileo still managed to influence the minds of many during the time. Galileo died, while serving his house arrest, on Jan. 8, 1642.
